Danceability Index

The mathematical definition of groove.

Danceability describes how suitable a track is for dancing based on a combination of musical elements.

Core Variables

  • Tempo Regularity: Does the BPM fluctuate? (Quantized tracks score higher).
  • Beat Strength: The transient attack of the kick/snare relative to the sub-bass.

Mixing a high-danceability track (0.9) directly into a low-danceability track (0.3) is jarring, even if you follow Harmonic Mixing rules.
